64 bit system

Hi all
just a quick question really if i want a 64bit system (windows7) am i right in think i will need a 64bit version of the operating system, 64bit compatible processor and motherboard?

is their anything else i need?

you need a 64 bit processor and a 64 bit copy of windows, but 64 bit has been around for years even old pentium 4 processors are capable of 64 bit, so unless your pc is extremely old you will be fine just to buy a copy of windows 64 bit, although also its only worth running a 64 bit system if you have 4gb memory or higher

I was wondering the same thing, im building a new Computer with an i7 processor and an

asrock P67 Pro3 B3 LGA1155,DDR3,7.1Snd,USB3,GBLan,ATX

motherboard will these all work with a 64bit version of windows 7 ???

I ran upgrades on two of my HP laptops, one purchased in March 2008, another purchased in September 2009. The first one originally came with 32-bit Windows Vista, the other had 64-bit Vista. I upgraded both to the 64-bit version of Windows 7 and they work just fine.
