64-bit vs. 32-bit Vista

I'm assuming with my new computer, I should want to buy the 64-bit vista. But can anyone tell me what the main difference between the two is?

Edit:

Rather than the question above, how about this: Wait for Windows 7 or jump on the Vista Wagon? I've seen many mixed answers.

64-bit Vista may issues running some software now since most software currently was written for 32-bit operating systems. I would go with a 32-bit operating system for right now and upgrade later.

With a 32-bit operating system you won't be able to utilize more than 3.25 gigabytes of RAM (which is fine since 3 gigabytes of memory is usually more than sufficient for a home computer use). If or when the time comes that you need a 64-bit operating system to utilize software produced in the future upgrade then. For right now you'll save yourself the headaches of software incompatibility by going 32-bit.
 
What are you going to using this computer for?

I would never purchase a new operating system released by Microsoft until it's been out for at least 7 months. If you don't mind bugs and possibly not having software drivers for computer hardware you own then go ahead and buy Windows 7. It would be wise to wait on purchasing Windows 7 until it's been past it's release date for some time.

I absolutely agree with what you're saying, but that's 2010. If I can hold off on buying Vista and get the new OS after the beginning stage bugs are fixed, then why not? Windows XP still supports everything.

I'm using it as my home PC and gaming.
 
If your in need to purchase a OS, go ahead and get Vista 64bit. I have been running it nearly a year now, no bugs, support, or driver issues what so ever. Theres no point in spending the money on XP when the market is market the change to vista.

Thats all i can say, you'll have people that put it down, and most of it is false. Or rather "XP fanboys", or they are in denial because their computer can't run it, i don't know.

I strongly suggest it.
 
I honestly prefer the 64-bit version of Windows, everything I have had, everything works! Not one compatibility issue. In fact, I forget I am on a 64-bit PC till somebody mentions it again.
 
Vista x64 is backwards compatible with almost all 32 bit applications, I would go with Vista x64.
 
vista 64. those imaginary bugs that happen are not a reality for 4/5 people, and if they DO happen it is the simplest thing in the world to figure out what to do.

64 bit has no drawbacks for the average consumer, or for gamers.
