64 bit vs 32 bit

Currently running Vista 32 bit, but my computer will run a 64 bit OS. Is there any advantage to running a 64 bit OS, considering that all the software that I run doesn't require a 64 bit OS?

At this time even 64bit versions of Windows for both XP and Vista are no sure fire way for running more then 3gb of memory. You can read about that in the article seen here. http://www.dansdata.com/askdan00015.htm

What will be seen over the next few when software companies decide to keep up with hardware manufacturer's is far more 64bit softwares, games, etc. while the 32bit market is still booming. Even for the 32bit version you have now be prepared to look for "Vista ready" on any softwares you are looking to install since many current ones need a newer version.

The biggest surprise seen for dual booting Vista Home Premium along with XP here was the sight of 6-7yr. old games running better then the newer 2005+ games out. Steam loves to crash while Return to CastleWolfenstein and both I+II versions of Soldier of Fortune actually run better then seen on XP? That was a goof there! Prey and Fear have worked out to give you some examples.

I will only run 64bit OS if it was vista.. but not on windows XP
And 64bit OS should be able to support for RAM

The article at the link posted earlier shows how even the 64bit version of Vista runs into problems when going over 3gb. The problem that remains to be seen is the one where the hardwares pregress alot faster then the OSs keep up. Yet there are 32bit versions of Windows that support well over the 3-4gb barrier seen in both XP and Vista 32bit versions. Try Windows Server versions that see over 32gb.
