64 or Opty?

get dual core if i were you, for the future purposes.
get x2 series, or even opteron 165, instead of 144
i'd say opteron 144 is dead, nobody wants it anymore/ lol
 
If you're not an extreme multi-tasker, going X2 is a waste. Multi-tasking is the X2's main selling point, and why buy a CPU if you're missing out on one of it's strongest features?

I'd just get an Opteron, maybe a 146. They overclock pretty well and are ridiculously cheap.
