6600gt sli question

the latest drivers from nvidia mean that you can use different cards from different manufacturers as long as they have the same amount of memory and have the same gpu. in this instance it would mean that the 6600 would not work with the 6600gt

Sorry to say NO but you must have same card as stated above. A 6600 GT must go with a 6600 GT. You can sometimes mixe different manufacturers but cards must have the same bios but that's getting technical!

ok thanks. what if i got another 6600... not the gt... my card also has one dvi port and one vga port, when i see pictures of sli hookups its always cards with two dvi ports, does this effect the sli or makes a difference?

ask for a single card to replace the 6600. the 6600 is a decent card, but a 9800pro performs better. the 6600 is only 128-bit and has 3 vertex shaders. ask for a 7800gtx even though we all know what shes gonna say. not a card for the overclocker, but its the best card you can buy when it comes to pixel pipelines and vertex shaders and such.

How is the 6600gt worse than the 9800pro!!?
Also why do you say that the 7800gtx is a bad overclocker?
I overclocked mine from 430/1200 to 520/1370......

i think he was talking about 6600 (not gt) but the 6600GT will outperform the 9800pro
