6800 Ultra or 6800 GT Evga or BFG or what?

Ok I changed my mind once again on my computer components. Instead of getting the BFG Geforce 6800gt 256mb AGP slot video card im going to get the Geforce 6800 with the pci express slot. Now what im going to ask here might be out of your opinon or might just be plan and simple and I can't see it but. Should I pay the extra 100.00 - 150.00 for the Ultra or save 100.00- 150.00 and get the gt. I see alot of people having evga geforce cards but also I see alot of BFG's around. Which one is better or are they basically just the same just different brand names?

And also I heard about this two video cards in one computer trick. Sounds pretty cool to me would look sweet aswell. Is this something to consider at a later on time to do would 2 6800gt or 6800ultras really matter right now lol.

And finally the motherboard for this beastly upgrade that im doing. Its a close one between the MSI neo, the Asus, and the Gigabyte! But I believe the MSI neo wins the match with this beauty.....

I don't know about the motherboards, I think all NF4s are essentailly the same. the video cards will be almost identicle (the only difference probably being the cooler). I would go with the GT and save a bit of money

If you're comparing between a reference cooler and a nonreference cooler (the 6800GTs that is), then the nonreference cooler will give you roughly a 5ºC advantage ... whether thats worth a $100 premium is up to you. Personally I wouldnt pay more than $20 for that kinda premium.

As for the mobo, unless you plan on doing SLI, then you'd be best served (financially) with the NF4U (hell you can mod the NF4U to NF4SLI in some cases i.e., DFI).

Your post beg the question: why upgrade? You've got a nice setup as it is :confused:
 
I wanted to change the AGP slot video card to the PCI Express. I heard that is was much faster then AGP.

It's certainly capapable of faster speed (double 8x agp) but it's no faster then agp at the moment ;-). You'd be best to save your money and wait a year or longer and upgrade to sli with a next generation video card and cpu and keep what you have now.
 
From what I've seen even the best cards out right now barely get past using the bandwidth of AGP 4X (ie X800XT, 6800 Ultra, don't jump on me if you can think of an exception :))

:rolleyes: , yeah I have heard the same. It still has to see its future (PCI-E). However, given the rate of technology growth, it's definitely gonna be useful in the future.

"barely breaking AGP4x" might be a bit of a stretch but certainly not too big of one :)
 
So you are saying that there is no real difference in AGP x8 and the PCI-E slot at the moment but in another year or so the PCI-E will blow it away?
 
What is the big difference from the Ultra and the GT?

And between the brands they don't really mean much in a difference do they. Like XFX, BFG, eVGA, leadtek.

Whenever I read up on BFG products they all say OCed right out of the box. Now don't the other names do that or is it a bad thing?

Well, there's a big difference in the slots, there's just no products that will use the bandwidth (that's probably what you meant ;)). As far as how soon the potential of PCI-E will be used, IMO it will be over a year. AGP 8X has been around for a few years and has yet be used at full capacity
 
So not even the new video cards that need PCI-E slots will be better then the same video card useing the AGP x8 slot?
 
This is like the 5th time I changed my mind so now im going back to the eVGA Geforce 6800gt 256mb AGP slot video card instead of getting the PCI-E. So now I must go back and find my mobo for the AGP again I did have a good one picked out.

Depends on what you call a big difference. In general between entire brands there is no difference. Between specific cards there can be very large differences

Oh ya and another question no relevent to this board but.
That mobo Gigabyte ok that seems to be very good board for me with AGP, Nvidia Chipset, Realtek sound, ethernet, 939-pin, 184 4gb max memory, now my questions for this is will I be able to hook up 3 ATA HDD to this and a dvd-burner and a dvd-rom...?

The Difference Between the Nvidia GeForce 6800GT's and the Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra's are these:

- The GeForce 6800 Ultra takes up two slots in your PC, the 6800GT Takes up one.
- The GeForce 6800GT has a 350MHz Core Clock and the Ultra has a 400MHz Core Clock
- The GeForce 6800GT has a 500MHz Memory Clock and the Ultra has a 550MHz Memory Clock
- The GeForce 6800 Ultra is about $100 More Expensive than the GeForce 6800GT.

Other than that everything is the same between the 6800 Ultra and the 6800GT.
