6800GS or 7600GT CO Superclocked

Well they have the same amount of pipelines. The 7600GT has higer clock speeds but quite a bit. But the 6800GS has a higher memory bandwith.

I would personally go with the 6800GS and just overclock. But im not sure if the 6800GS could reach the superclocked speeds of the 7600GT.
 
i would go with 7600GT without thinking because it is cheaper, and is as good or better than 6800GS.

there are many people here who post in topic of which that have no idea, but that doesnt stop them posting. If we censored all that crap that was said, we'd never have anything to talk about!

i was thinking the same thing about the 7600GT CO SC, it looks like a great card for the price, considering its a $20 upgrade
 
get the 6800gs... it dominates. notice, evga says its "35.XX"gb memory bandwidth... whereas the 7600gt has "24.XX"gb memory bandwidth. this is because: despite the higher clocks, its 128-bit and therefore cripples its performance. although, the 7600gt does have a higher gpu clocks i believe that the 6800GS would be a better choice.
theyre both decent cards. i picked the 7800gt (yea, before the 7900's were out)
 
still, thats not alot of speed loss, especially when theres a 450MHz speed increase in the memory and 110 core speed stock. that to me is better, and i know that the memory on my 6800GS is capped at 1.3GHz, but the 7600GT could be pushed to 1.7GHz (its gonna have a NV5R3 on it)
 
sure man.. its up to you... but the 7600gt's memory is like 2/3 the speed of the 6800gs's memory at like 4/3 the clocks because of the whole 256/128-bit.
6800gs > 7600gt

The 6800GS is a better card considering that it has a 256 bit bandwidth. It's all about what your budget allows. If you have the means i would suggest the 6800GS.

I wanted to jump into this convo before but wanted to see what others had to say. The larger memory bandwidth does not necessarily mean that the 6800GS is a better choice. In fact as tests have shown, the 7600GT is a better performer. I always look beyond numbers to see whether one thing truly is better than the other.

Really? I didn't think the higher clocks could beat the memory bandwidth of the 6800GS.
 
Well

The memory bandwidth is undoubtedly higher in the 6800GS but does not mean greater performance over the 7600GT. Basically said, even though the 7600GT is stripped down and limited by its 128bit memory, the REAL WORLD performance of the 7600GT beats the 6800GS nevertheless. Basically, you are looking at higher clocks and an improved card architecture.

I noticed on the 7600 GT they don't even have RAM sinks just a heat sink over the processor. I wonder how hot it would get?
 
Well

Not all memory heats up. If they use chips that are made to handle those frequencies with a margin, then they should not heat up enough to cause problems. You can always install extra ram-sinks if you need it when overclocking the card for example.
