6800GT or X850XT?

The ATi will make a better one than that and then nVidia would make a better one than that and then ATi would make a better one than that and then.... Why wait until someone else makes a new chip, the other company will follow up with a better chip, just stick with a chip and ride it through. If you wait for something better to come along, you will be waiting forever since something better comes along every few months...

OK.. Just that I was thinking more of kinda simultaneous release =)

isn't the x1900xtx suppose to have 48 pipelines or something? I just read that from somewhere from google, dono if its right.
Here are the specs, and if you didnt know already ATI makes cards with lower pipes and higher shaders for more quality, where Nvidia makes cards that will have very high fps but not as good quality. Anyways lets not make this a NVidia vs ATI thread.

G71 (7900ultra)
90 nm low k
32 pixel pipelines
32 pixel shaders
32 TMUs (texture mapping units)
16 ROPs
10 Vertex shaders?
256bit GDDR3 (ext.)
380~ transistors?

core clock 750mhz
memory clock 1900mhz.

R580 (X1900XT)
90 nm lowk
16 pixel pipelines
48 pixel shaders
16 TMUs
10 VS
256bit GDDR3 (512bit int. ring bus)
350~ transistors? (R520 has 321~ transistors)

core clock 695mhz
memory clock 1550mhz

P11, I have ran on one card alot. I can still run about anything out on highest settings flawlessly. I still love them. In my opinion they are great cards. They do get a little hot, but other than that theyre awesome.

Thats true but not the new games...like F.E.A.R. COD2, etc.

Eh, my 6800GT runs COD pretty flawlessly, only recall a couple minor framerate drops when there's A LOT on the screen.

With max aa/af max quality + shadows maxed + all textures on EXTRA? i doubt it.

looks to me that the 7900 beats the X1900XT
