6800gt vs. 6800gs

I'd have to say that the 6800GS is better, or on par with the 6800GT, but generally by a small margin.

theyre both good. id get the 78gt tho lol just as i did :) haha
id prefer the GS tho i duno its got less pipelines but its still a really good card.

guys... not this again... the GS isnt better, it just benches better
last time i checked performing better makes a card better. sure, the GT has more pipelines and has more performance PER CLOCK but that doesnt mean you can get the 68gt to 68gs speeds, it all depends on what brand you get and what stock voltages are for the card you buy.
also, the 7800GS performs better than the 7800GT... except i got mine to higher clocks either way :)

in the review i linked in my previous post they didnt test on benchmarks but what what the best playable setting and which the GT could play at higher settings than the GS. for example on HL2 and City of Villains you could play the GT with AF at x16 while the GS you could only play at x8 and in BF2, with the GT you have Dynamic Light on high while the GS would drop below 30fps often.
it uses the PPs more in gaming then benchmarking
exactly

Yes, I know that the 6800GS has only 12 pipelines, compared to the 16 the 6800GT has.

To counter that weakness, the clock speeds on the 6800GS are raised past the 6800GT's to make it perform within 5% of the 6800GT.

When it comes to OC 6800GT goes past that sucky GS. I mean if both of them are @ 420/1200MHZ for example then 6800GT will outperform that GS in 3dmark and especially in games..

Assuming that you can get the clock speeds on the GT as high as you can get the clocks on the GS:rolleyes:.

In general, the GT performs SLIGHTLY better, although the difference is not enormously significant. Given the price difference, the GS is much better value, IMO:
