I have a pretty good budget system-
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Asus A8N5X
1 gig Corsair XMS
160 gig SATA WD HDD
Gigabyte combo drive
Sunbeam clear (pink- long story) case
5 case fans, six other fans- this runs cool
and an EVGA 6800XT. I have no idea what the XT, GT, GS stands for, and which is better. I got the 6800 because it was cheap, and a friend recommended it over the 6600 because of the 3.0 shaders. I havent played anything more complex than UT2004, and i dont know if ill be able to have fun with half life 2. any comments? also, i dont know how to get the Composite In cable for the card to work. any help will be appreciated.

XT is the lowest, 8 pipelines and cut down core/mem speed. GT has 16 pipelines, ultra has 16 pipelines but higher speed than GT. GS is the 12 pipelines version but has slightly higher clock/mem speed to compensate. SO all in all, XT sucks.

The 6600 has SM3.0 too...

You'd most likely be able to run HL2. Maybe not the best quality, but it'd be decent. It ran fine on my computer (6600) until the whole machine stopped working..:(

You will, provided you're not looking for very high quality settings (although I guess you knew that, given the price). It's better than a vanilla 6600. It also has unlocking potential. Read this thread for info on how to unlock it.

This card has TV-OUT, not VIVO. You can't use it to input video if that's what you mean. The output settings should be controlled in your display driver.

well... darn! that sucks, but i wont be able to get a nice 7800 or something like that until i rob my local bank. I wish i had known this earlier! thanks guys
