Hey guys, Im looking at getting a Sapphire 6970 but am not sure if I will be able to use its full capabilities with my system. Can anyone help me with this?

My system specs:
asus m4a88td-v evo-usb3 motherboard
8gb patriot ddr3 ram
antec 750w psu
1055t x6 processor
WD 1 tb hd hard drive

paying 340 for the 6970. and ya i have heard about people doing that but i plan on unlocking the 6970s shaders aswell.

You can't just unlock any card you want too.. Regardless, finding a 6950 that will unlock without much problem is a lot harder than when they came out.
 
If i were you just get a 6950...i had a XFX 6950 that did unlock fully to a 6970 but the performance gain was very little to be honest,So not worth the extra $$ for a 6970 over a 6950 and like said it would be quite hard to get a new 6950 that would unlock now unless you got one second hand or old stock.

as they said, you can't unlock a 6970 and the 6950 unlocks are rare now, but for less actually i think the gtx 570 is a little stronger than the 6970
 
Well I guess really the new cards are just as likely to unlock as the older ones. Probably started eating into the 6970 sales. Most removed the dual bios and switch. Makes it a little more problematic if the flash fails. But that PowerColor in the link above does still have it.
