6GB of RAM to 8GB?

I currently have 6 GB of RAM, I recently upgraded my computer, and I've made some huge improvements. My computer isn't what most people would consider "amazing", thats not my goal, I'm just trying to get the most out of it for a reasonable price.

I got a gift certificate as a gift, and I'm thinking about using it to replace my 2 1 GB RAM sticks, with 2GB ones, which would put me up to 8 GB. I'm not really sure it will make much of a difference though, will it? I wont lie, I barely know what ram even does, its really the only part of the computer which I know I need, but damned if I know what getting more of it does.

Really all I do is play Counterstrike, and WoW on it, plus I do a lot of work related things.

Is there even a point to upgrade to 8 GB, will my performance improve?
 
If you have 6gig i would have to think you are rocking now.
I would just leave it alone. find something else to buy.

Hit control+alt+delete to get into the task manager. Click on the performance tab, then look and see how much free memory you have left.

1.94GB, thats with WoW running on one screen, and Firefox on the other.

If RAM isn't a worth while investment I'll likely just buy a new power supply. Mines just about to be on the edge of not supplying enough power, plus I'm out of molex's.

That's how much is being used correct?

Going from 2Gigs to 8Gigs is a bit overkill.

All you need is 2 x 2Gig sticks. This would put you at 6Gigs if you used your current memory also.

You will notice a difference...

Lol, +1, 6GB of RAM is amazing in my book, I'm not sure about those gamers that are even "moar hardcore" then me, but I run perfectly off of 4GB, even 4GB is plenty.
 
What RAM do you have now, exactly? You don't need more ram, but faster ram could be an improvement.

If i dont mind asking, what are the rest of the specs on your computer? Like everyone else said, no need to go from 6 GB to 8 GB RAM.
