Would I be able to take out the fanmate on my Zalman 9700LED heatsink, and just have this go directly from the fan to the motherboard, and still have it on the lowest speed, with minimal damage to the fan?
I've tried taking out the fanmate (the excessive cables annoy me, and I don't ever take it off the lowest speed) but when I connect it to the motherboard, it runs at full speed.
My question is, would using this run my fan at a lower speed?

yes, it will run your fan at about 50% of its original speed

Do yo u guys know what the Zalman Fanmate (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835118217) at lowest settings runs it at?
