Well the thing is super slow. Time to reformat but i cant find the OS disks anywhere. Ive been looking on some torrent websites for OS downloads. is this the right way to go? how can i make a recovery disk? or how can i reformat my pc?

thanks

If you cant find your CDs you need to reorder them from the manufacter.
About the recovery discs...depends in your machine..
Torrents isnt the right way to go..
To reformat your PC.first you will need to have the OS CD/floppies in your hand
and manage to boot from them.
Hope that helps.

first, i went to my bios and made sure cdrom was first to boot. then, i restarted again. it asks me to press any key to boot from cd rom. then it goes to the blue windows install screen. i click enter to install then click f8 to agree to the terms. the next screen askes me to install partition or delete partition. they arrow keys let me scroll thru the different partitions (which are missing). any key i press on this screen gives me the "windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer."

You can have one of 4 problems:
RAM is giving errors
your HDD isnt good
your XP CD wasnt well recorded
your cdrom isnt good
