Just out of curiousity, is this cpu for a friend or close relative?

relative.... not sure how this helps

Just wanted to know. Anyway considering you live in california and the taxes out there are b.s., here's something that will meet your relatives needs

Its just a little over the budget, not sure if you are willing to pay a little extra. Not sure about the shipping and tax. The i7 is a too little high for your budget so I kept it to a Core 2 Quad CPU processor if thats alright with you. Plus I dont think your relative needs anything that fast and expensive. Let me know what you think. Others may have their opinions.

If you can get the i7 920 then cool but that would mean you would have to get a 1366 socket motherboard so that the cpu is compatible. I think MSI has an inexpensive motherboard running around somewhere on newegg.
