The motherboard you picked uses DDR2 RAM you picked DDR3 RAM you will either have to change you motherboard or RAM. Everything else is perfect

thats pretty bad for the motherboard, because I need to have FIREWIRE with the Texas Instrument chipset, which was on that board. Is there an otherboard that offers the firewire + DDR3 or maybe I should go with DDR2?

Thanks

For the case, I think I will keep the antec because I trust antec much and I have some foam that I can glue in the case if I want (the case will probably be in a closet very far...)

All of these have firewire ports and are DDR3 compatible http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...ption=&Ntk=&CFG=&SpeTabStoreType=&srchInDesc=

Does this board supports DDR3?

In the specs, it says Channel Supported Dual Channel

Is that DDR3 or DDR2?

I'm not sure it is a AM3 board and AM3 boards only use DDR3 I guess it is just listed wrong here is a couple more to choose from if you are worried about it.

ASUS would be the one I pick because thay have always made good motherboards and never let me down but MSI and Foxconn make great motherboards to.

I really have to stick with Gigabyte because they have the Texas Instrument firewire chipset and that is the only firewire chipset that will work with my specialised sound card.

I found this board.

Gigabyte GA-MA785GT-UD3H AMD785G ATX AM3 2PCI-E DDR3 Video Sound GLAN CrossFireX HDMI Motherboard

Sounds like it ias ATX (not mATX like the other one I put there, doh!), DDR3, has video card integrated and TI firewire.

Seems good???

I am searching google and getting weird answers to my question:

Is it possible to buy a micro ATX motherboard and fit it into a ATX case (antec 300)

Thanks

Actually you could get any motherboard you won't then get this PCI card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16800998059 it has the TI chipset you are looking for.

The Antec three hundred will fit Micro ATX motherboards no problem I have used the three hundred in about 30 builds so trust me on this.

You could buy a whole motherboard for that much.

Yes you could but there is not many motherboard out there with the firewire chipset he needs.

Hi guys, thanks a lot, this forum is great!

If I understand everything, I could
Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H AMD785G mATX AM3 PCI-E DDR3 Video Sound GLAN CrossFireX HDMI Motherboard

and it would be fine even if its mATX? I will never use any PCIe or PCI cards that is for sure so I do not need many slots on the board.

That motherboard also has my TI chipset and it supports DDR3. Seems like this is what I will chose.

Thanks everyone

Yea I don't see why you can't as long as it has the firewire you need the 785G chipsets are new so I don't now much about them but if it has what you need then you shouldn't have a problem.
