700 MB DivX file ... to DVD-R... Nero 7 (Vision) can do the straight conversion?

Can it? Or do I have to convert first with another program?

Also, is DivX to DVD-R different than XviD to DVD-R?

I usually use DivX for my family occassion movie making from my Sony video camera to my computer... I've never tried Xvid ... what is XviD is it even good?

use divxtodvd by vso, great little free piece of software, that will handle most video file formats

But yes you can use Nero 7 to convert it, but its just not the best for video quality, and its fairly notorious for sound/video problems resulting from encodes.

TMPGEnc is a good encoder, and DVD2SVCD and The FilmMachine are good programs for conversion. Good idea to check out doom9.org and afterdawn.com
