Help! I am in need of a decent gaming computer with a mere budget like mine. I was trying to do it myself but I would love to see some other suggestions. The games I plan to play are

Warhammer Online
COD4
and possibly crysis.

also I would like somthing that would be easy to upgrade in the future.

thanks!

I am also NOT in need of a monitor, keyboard, or mouse.

no im just getting into it, I was looking to go bare bone then fill in the gaps. I'm not asking for a maxed out crysis computer, I understand 800 bucks wont get me that...Im just saying eventually I will gradually upgrade. I at least want to start with something along the lines of this:

2.5 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
· 2 Gigabyte RAM
· A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
· At least 15 GB of hard drive space

and atleast one of these cards:

ATI Radeon

· 9500, 9600, 9800
· X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
· X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
· 2400, 2600, 2900,
· 3650, 3850, 3870
· 4850, 4870

NVIDIA Geforce

· FX 5900, FX 5950
· 6600, 6800,
· 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
· 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
· 9400, 9500, 9600, 9800
· GTX 260, GTX 280

Also, what do you reccommend for a MOBO and memory? I still need to keep it under 800

Your budgets not that bad in today's market

I just wanted to add my two cents, but in my opinion your budget is not that bad. You could get a nice base system with all of your listed requirements and be well within your budget. Giving you money left over to upgrade your video and sound cards to your liking. Just a thought.

oh you live in Richmond? I'm up in Fairfax, that's cool

anyway it looks like you got about $200 left on the budget, I would recommend 4 gigs of ram no matter what (it just makes computing smoother).

the next question is: Do you want to overclock?

this will affect your ram/mobo choices.

fairfax is cool, I used to live there before I moved! As far as overclocking I would not know how to go about doing that since I am new to computer hardware.

Good to see new members helping new members :). But I would suggest you not to overclock unless you know what you are doing.

So delirium, what else do you need apart from a case.

you could get an 8800 gt video card and a dual core amd processor for pretty cheap, both of which will allow you to play the games listed, also make sure you get 4gb of ram
