Well i narrowed down my choices to the Evga 7600 GT and the Evga 8600 GT. Do you think its worth it to pay the extra 25$ for a 8600 GT instead of the 7600 GT? I plan to buy a 8800 GTS probably like next year. lol. The only difference I see between the two is that the 8600 GT is 540 MHz and is DX10 while the 7600 GT is 560 MHz and is DX9. Which do you think i should pick? (i only have 1 pci-e x16 slot and the case is 14" x 6" x 14.5" (D x W x H) if this makes any difference. Please look at my rig below)

Well I'm actually planning to play DX9 games for about another year. Who knows i might end up playing dx10 games soon because CRYSIS does seem like a very nice game. I'm just scared of the 8600GT because i heard it is pretty hot. Also I'm thinking it will bottleneck because vista rates the 8600 GT 5.5 for gaming graphics (according to 2 users), while my CPU is given a 4.9 . I'm afraid this will be a bottleneck. Would you still suggest the 8600GT over the 7600GT?

I know the performance is nearly the same, however I was thinking if i needed the 8600 GT because I have Vista home premium and the 8600GT is DX10.

Vista has DX10 so ya you need it and anyway when the 8950 are out the 7 series will be almost obsolete

Interesting. Do you think it will bottleneck though? My CPU is rated 4.9 and I know the 8600GT will be rated a 5.5

Ya you are right my C2D E6300 @ 1.86 shows 4.9 and 8600GT shows 5.9 for gaming and 5.5 for graphics. Both of them are not overclocked if I overclock them then I am sure that it will gonna rise the numbers.

In context to heat I haven't seen my 8600GT cross 70*C.It always remain at 65-68*C while gaming.

I guess ill get the 8600 GT. i was planning to overclock my CPU anyways so i suppose the rating's will be close. Hanamaichi are you well satisfied with it? Does it work well?

Not totally satisfied but loved the way it handled F.E.A.R at maximum setting.

If you play games like me on the 15" monitor which has the maximum res of 1152x.... at maximum setting then it's the way to go.

Well i play games like the ones you do except i got a 19" LCD monitor with 1440 x 900 resolution. Would you still recommend?

If you are happy with medium setting in the future games then I certainly will reccomend.Overclock it and more gain in performance. But if you don't wan't to loose any eye candy then add some cash and get 8800 series.

And remember with those high setting in F.E.A.R I have also enabled AA upto 4x.Same with doom3.And got avg fps of 35 in F.E.A.R and around 60 in doom3 even with AA 8x but in 1024x768.

I decided to get the 8600GT. Thank you Hanamichi and everyone else who helped. (im glad your static problem is fixed :))
