will the 7800gtx be THAT MUCH BETTER than the 7800gt?
i mean, for over a $150 or more increase in price, ya know..

people are going to tell you no, but i got the gt and can say i'm disappointed. what games will you be playing?

It's not worth the money for a GTX, IMO. I mean look at this chart, the differences are at most five frames per second, that's really not noticeable.

Hey, i get an average of 55FPS on doom 3 with my 6600GT, but thats at
1204 x 768, but still with 4x AA on.

Yeah plus if you overclock a GT you will be equal or better then a 7800GTX.

Sort of but not quite, the overclock on the core and memory would give you better performance, but it wouldn't increase it that much. Plus, your still missing those 4 pipes.

I thought I heard somewhere that you could unlock the pipes, anyways, I just ordered a 7800GT from the Egg about 20 minutes ago, I can't wait to get it.:D

yeah, im nailing a consistant 60FPS on doom 3 at 1153x864 with 4xAA on my desktop, which is my barrier i believe... id say get the GTX for "future enhancement in gameplay and bragging rights" but the GT will run every game today just fine with maxed graphics (except maybe FEAR) at 1024x768

AOE 3 is a demanding game no doubt, but I am not going to turn down the 7800GT for that reason (too late anyway :)).

yeah, if it weren't for aoe3 there really wouldn't be any reason for me to want any better. but another big issue is i just like the feeling of not having to worry about how something will perform AT ALL, and sometimes this isn't the case with the gt.

I see what you mean, but you have got what you got, and unless you want to spend a fortune on a GTX, then.... I'm too tires, gotta go to bed, cya.

was just playing the nfs: most wanted demo.. felt like it was a little framey/not as responsive as it should be .. anyone know where some benches for the game are?

I've had no lag at all in NFS: MW at all. Maybe it's because you were running the demo maybe? Full version shouldnt lag for ya, your setup is a bit better then mine and runs smooth for me. What drivers/graphic settings you running it at?

wow i dunno wtf you guys are talkin about... i can play aoe3 maxed at 1280x1024 ???
but quake 4 kicks my ass for some reason... i know people with a a64 3000 and lesser 7800gt and can play it better. i dont think a gtx is going to save your butt... try getting some updates, as games are coming out with dual core updates now.
i dunno it doesnt make any sense to waste $300 on a gt, then go and waste $400+ on a gtx, when the difference really IS minimal... but it's yall's money :)
