7800GT or GTX?

It's not worth getting the GTX for 100 dollars more and just a little better performance... or am I wrong? I don't see that it's MUCH better than the regular GT. Plus, I found a deal on Newegg where I can get a regular 7800GT and BF2 full version for only around 400 bucks.

For only 50 dollers more the gtx has 4 more pipelines. If I could afford either I would get the gtx

Oh I thought i saw saw on newegg that it was 50 more, guess its a houndred not 50. In that case... I wouldnt

Anyone know where I can get the best price for this (7800GTX)? I checked Newegg... I was hoping cheaper. (Battlefield 2 bundle would be nice :D ).

I just realized it was $100 cheaper so i would go with the GT you found not the GTX. (although the new eVGA GeForce 7800GTX KO Edition for 570 dollers looks nice... heh heh)

only at extreme resolutions youll see a differense. (2048+1600 or what whas it again? )
anyway.. in battlefield 2, at the res 1280x 1024. you cant even tell the difference between a 6800 ULTRA and a 7800GTX. (unles you'r gaging on FPS opcourse :P i mean.. a difference of 60fps or 90 fps.. we'll, you cant see that.)

I think I've decided... I'm going with the GT. By the next time I upgrade, there will probably be something better than the GTX anyway. Thanks for your help guys.

most ppl in fps games can tell the difference between 90fps and 60fps. especially with a crosshair lag. and the fact that if you are running 60fps max, firefights will look like crap.

Will those extra pipelines make a drastic difference?
the difference is not huge, and sometime time soon they will hack the pipe so they can be unlocked upto gtx, i dont think its been done yet,
tweaker any thoughts?

Well... realistically for me, I don't think I need such a high-end card as the GTX. I mean... people can run HL2 on a 6800GT almost perfectly. I don't want to spend so much extra money on stuff I don't need. And I don't play Doom 3 which requires a lot more than Half-Life so I should be good with the regular GT.

Did you guys check out the warenty and th clock speed on e-VGA's 7800 GTX.. it has the fastest overclock of any company, and the warenty protects against everything but physical damage so if you OC too much they replace it for you!

id say the gt, thats wot im gona get, its enough to play any game, then in a few months time wen u save up enough cash again u can stick another 1 in!!

did you tested it youself? because i did, and firefights over 40fps just look smooth. you cant tell the difference between 40fps or 90fps.. except when you have thefps printed in screen.
