7800gt temps

i bought a 7800gt, replaced the cooler with an arctic cooling nv silencer revision 3...
my temps get up to 69celsius but idles at around 41 celsius... i applied silver 5 to the gpu and ceramique to the memorys (because its thicker, supposedly allows more space to be filled between them and the cooler)
anyways, i was wondering WHY MY TEMPS ARE SO HIGH??
i cleaned the heatsink and the card with rubbing alcohol 91%!
 
they arent high. 41C at idle is good.

also i heard somewhere that it takes time for the artic silver to take full affect so just wait awhile and see what happens. but i dont kno if its true
 
yea it does take time.. except that wasnt the problem, my sata cable was stopping the fan from running... now it idles at 38 celsius and loads at 45 celsius... lol
 
Mine never got too hot, not nearly as hot as the 6800GT I had... I got my new one today and should have my mobo tommarow, so I could post more temps and such then...

Plus there are different models. Mine's one of the lower end ones, slower speeds and all. Just fine with me as it probably runs cooler :P

That's more like mine from what I remember... my mobo should be here tommarow so I'll try again. I got to run some real burn in tests to be sure it's all good :rolleyes:
 
lol dude mines o/ced and never goes above like 44-45c under load... and idles at like 37-38 depending on the temps in my room and thats with my case fans turned all the way down with my fan controller.
