780i Info (Asus)

Hmm if that motherboard has support for both DDR 2 and DDR 3 I would go out and buy it in a second no matter what the price is. I just can't find a SLI motherboard that supports both memory standards as well as "upcoming" 45nm processors.

I thought at the moment the 780i will over support Dual 45nm CPU and not quad ones, which I thought was pretty useless. Also it seems that the 780i is just an old 680i with added PCI-E 2.0 support. Researching for my new computer gives me an overall impression that the market is saturated with cross fire enabled motherboards and Sli motherboards are rare in comparison. I really want to SLI two 8800GT together, but I can't find a motherboard that has SLI, support for Quad 45nm CPU and DDR2 and 3 support. That is all I ask and I have yet to find a motherboard that fits all those criteria.

lol I was just about to post that link, yeah, the 780i only supports Dual 45nm cpus. :( I hope they change that via a BIOS update or something. I really want to get a Quad 45nm CPU enabled motherboard.

does anyone know how much this will cost and about the release date? It would be pretty sick to run 3 sli 512 8800GT's. I could care less about this 45 nm tech.

780i supports both dual and Quad core 45nm

Only 680i doesn't support quad core 45nm, but it supports dual core 45nm

no one knows the release date of the 780's? I'm so close to doing a build for christmas, but if this mobo is to be released soon I will definetly hold out for it. Can someone tell me if I understand the specs correctly?

support for 45nm and 65nm tech for dualcore and quadcore?
support for ddr2 and ddr3 ram?
support for tripple SLI at x16?

Am I to understand this correctly? Like I said, futureproof. But I need a release date!

You can probably figure on $200+ but under $300. Thats for the first couple of months, then the price will fall fast.
