7900gs

How much would you have to overclock this card to be as fast as the 7900GT? Is it dangerous to clock it to the same speeds?

What program could I use to make it happen?

The gs is an agp card so it is not going to run as fast as the gt (pci-e)no matter how much you overclock it.

Really? Damn that sucks! I read in another thread that the 7900GS is an underclocked 7900GT! Crap!

Your right myjack. My bad. And to answer your question this card will perform very nicely in all the latest games.

Well that's a relief!

2nd question was... how hard is it to overclock it to 7900GT speeds? Can you do it safely?

--------------Core------------Memory
7900GT-------450MHz---------1320MHz
7800GS-------375MHz---------1200MHz

These are the clock speeds which I found to be the ones used by the "vanilla" version of the 7900GT and 7800GS.

So it would be a 75MHz OC on the core and 60MHz on the memory.

Although naturally you wouldn't get the same performance with the OC. The cards are still quite different. For example, the 7800GS has 16 pipelines, while the 7900GT has 24.
