7900gt with crazy clocks

I got my evga 7900gt co overclocked and can overclock it far past what I thought. It came at 500/1500, which is already overclocked, and then I clocked it to 560/1710 with no added voltage. Is this normal?

My 7800 was 450/1250 normal and I got it up to 550/1400, so I don't see why not.

I saw that some of the guys have overclocked it to 1800 MHz (memory) and scored around 10k in 3DMark05.

Sounds about right. Mine's at 570/1770 ATM, from a stock 470/1370. Voltmodding can get you far higher, if you're willing to try.

the 7900's are beasts lol.
probably runs cool as ice too lol now that they've switched nvidia chips to 90nm

Strangely enough, overclocking doesn't seem to increase my fps at all. Why not?

Depends what FPS you are getting currently. What are your FPS in some games? Maybe theres locks on the games that only allow up to a certain FPS. I am also just curious as to why you would need better performance out of a 7900GT?
