Heya guys,

my friend (Burgon) has a problem with his 7900GTX and the mobo. He has the DFI NF4 SLI Expert motherboard. There are 2 PCI Express x 16 slots for SLI. However, in single VGA mode, one works as x2 and the other as x16 (which is what DFI says in the manual). The x16 however, does not detect the card and cannot be used. Do any of you know how to make it work?

THE PCI Express x16 slot in question is the one on top.

The motherboard should not need a BIOS flash in order to dectect the card as far as I know. But its the only thing I can come to think of right now that he may want to try.

Problem solved

It was most likely a problem with the card not being put in right. Now it's ok. Thanx for the help.

wait, so i have my card on the bottom slot. so that damn thing is only running 2x??!?!@?!?@?$#?@!%?$?%!#$? serioustly, the reason why i have it there is because of the fact that my NV5 killed my last NB Fan and i dont want it to happen again

When using SLI mobos you should always put it in the top PCI-E slot unless it says otherwise, when using one card. Some mobos won't allow the computer to start correctly.

7900 - some problems

There is a known problem with some of those cards - just google
"7900Gt problems" and you will see. Some of the cards overheat because the chips they used can't handle how high they have it overclocked to. I had one of the bad ones, an EVGA, and returned it for a different one, and it works fine now. The EVGA & Nvidia forums also have many posts about this problem.
