Hi all my setup is as follows

Asus mb (can't remember the model number)
E6600 at stock speeds
7950GX2 Graphics card
2 gig xms2 800mhz ram

Not fully upto speeds on current hardware but i've been looking at the new 8800 graphics cards.. Just wondering though if it's worth the upgrade yet,, will i see much improvement or shall i wait for the next gen of cards ie 8900???

If I do upgrade this time or next will my processor be upto the task or will that have to be changed too??

Any advice much appreciated..

I think it would be silly to upgrade to an 8800 as that card you have is very nice. Wait for the new cards to come out and see how they perform

Your cpu and ram wont need upgrading for ages as they are great

wow really fast response,, thanks...

Yeah the 7950gx2 is a really good card no problems running things so far... are the dx10 features not worth upgrading for then????

anybody know when the 8900 cards are due???

Well there arent many DX10 game sout at the moment, and new cards are supposed to start cming out november thourgh to early 2008

Sheconded! In February Nvidia shall release some new cards, rumored to be the 9800's. Wait alittle while, see what happens, that GX2 still gets the job done nicely.

Edit: Dx10 has yet to mature, right now it's not worth it. Will be in the future though.

No it's not worth upgrading, the 7950GX2 is already a great card, and the 8800 isn't much of an upgrade anyways.

Cheers for all your replies one of the best forums on the net.. I'll stick with my card till something else comes out...
