What do you guys think? I plan to play Battlefield 3 when it comes out, how will this handle it? Any improvements or suggestions would be helpful.

That RAM is 1.6v by default. On a P67 board you would be better off with 1.5v RAM. Something like Corsair Vengeance would be better.

Also, what resolution are you gaming at? That will be the determining factor when it comes to choosing a GPU.

1680 X 1050 is my resolution. What card would you recommend?

Also would it be a good idea to get a better motherboard for future upgrades?

When it comes to motherboards, the main reason for spending more money is down to how well they overclock (there are obviously other factors aswell). Since the CPU that you have decided to go for is locked, it cannot be overclcoked, meaning that you don't need to spend loads on a mobo.

One thing you might want to consider is if you plan to go SLI in the future as that mobo doesn't support it. However, gaming at your current res should not require more than one card.

If you could stretch your budget, I'd more inclined to go for a 2500k and a GTX 470.

Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost)

How would adding this stuff be? I'm not really planning to overclock because I don't really want to risk screwing something up as I haven't done it before. Do I even need the aftermarket CPU fan if I don't overclock it?

Battlefield 3 is probably going to be the most intensive game this will see for a long time, how will this build handle it?

In Canadian that's about $820. Thanks for the advice guys, does anyone have any ideas. I can probably stretch to $900 or so.

@Spesh should I get a better motherboard then? I hear some of them have an overclocking switch so you don't have to mess around in the Bios.

Seriously, go for the 2500k. You'll really end up regretting it if you don't. Also, don't bother with overclocking using switches on the motherboard. Sandybridge chips are so easy to overclock that it would be a crime to not do it in the bios. You will also not be able to overclock the i5 2400 as it is locked. If your budget will stretch, I'd go for the Gigabyte P67A-UD4 over that MSI board.

Yeah I'll pick up the Gigabyte P67A-UD4 board you suggested.

So overall how's the build? are there any other parts I should change? Also should I worry about heat or the power supply?

The build will be fine if you switch from the 2400 to the 2500k. Sandybridge generates much less heat than previous chip architectures so I wouldn't worry too much about cooling.
