For home desktops, no. For servers, yes. The new AMD 8-core processors are being released soon.

Hopefully AMD releases the new Zambezi 8-Core processors before October 31st. TigerDirect.com already has the new AMD FX-6100 Six-Core Processor for sale.

supposedly the date is currently set as the 12th for the 8100 series like the top of the line 8150p which will be at like 266 i think it was and it has some really high clock's at stock speed.

I have always said i will wait until Octocore processors come out before i upgrade again.

If you want to be specific about core count, then the Bulldozer quad-module chips will have 8 cores.

i thought like 2 or 3 weeks ago it was saying like 266 for the 8150p, which would have been more recent than that.
