8 Pin Socket

Looking at my friends 680i, I realized that he has an 8 pin CPU power socket.... And as far as I know, I don't think my own PSU has an 8 pin connector..... If I ever get/plan to get a new board, is there any way to work around the 8 pin connector/socket without having to buy a new PSU?

I honestly dont know, but that was something that I almost completely overlooked. Any new high-end power supply should have an 8-Pin CPU connector, but make sure you look at the picture before you buy it.

You may want to look into the PSU in my sig, it costs about $150, but its very good.

In that case, would you be able to use the old 4 pin connector and part of a 6 pin connector that would normal go to a video card?

i highly doubt it, without researching for a few mins but most pins require different voltages, even if it isjust to the extent of having 12v positive lines and gronds in the right places, if you could get them in the right places and make them fit, then it _woul_ in fact be possible to get it to work like that, although i really dont advise it, lol....

maybe a little more info next time??? not everyone is as technically enlightened as you
