Hi, im thinking about building my own computer. I've been researching a while and think the parts will work together but i just want to check, they are :

Thermaltake Litepower 700W ATX Power Supply

Cooler Master Elite 430 - Black ATX Tower Case

AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 640 3.0GHz 2MB Cache (AM3/AM2+/AM2)

Thermaltake TMG A2 CPU Cooler for AMD 939/AM2/754

XFX ATI HD5450 PCI-E 2.0, 1GB, DDR3, 128bit, DVI, D-Sub, HDMI, LP

Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H AMD Mainboard - 4x DDR3 / 5x Sata Raid / Gigabit Lan / Onboard VGA/DVI/HDMI

2 X Corsair DDR3 4GB PC-10600/1333

Netgear WG311 802.11g 54Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter

LG GH22NS50 SATA DVD Re-Writer

Western Digital Caviar Green Power 1TB 7200RPM 64MB SATA 3Gbs

Welcome to the forums! :)

Got some thoughts:

1- The power supply is fairly low quality, I'd lose that. 600W is way overkill for this rig, anyway.

2- The Elite 430 case has decent airflow, but poor cable management, if that matters to you.

3- You can get a much better CPU cooler for the price of that thing.

4- The W.D. Green drives aren't designed as primaries, they're designed for storage. They're pretty slow. Look for Samsung Spinpoint F3 or W.D. Caviar Black.

5- If this is a gaming computer, the 5450 isn't going to cut it.

6- The motherboard isn't "bad", but you can probably find a better one for the same price.

The ps is not good.
The cpu is am3/the cooler am2.
Get 1600 memory.
The gpu is under powered for the budget.
Samsung F3 or WDB hdd.

edit: I really need to start looking first.:o

hah, thanks guys these are some parts im thinking about instead of previous,

not sure about ps any suggestions?
 
That motherboard is a downgrade from the other one :/

Seagate 7200.12 drives are ok. I wouldn't put them on the same level with WD Black or Samsung F3, but they're pretty close. Definitely better than the WD Green.

The GPU is pretty decent, though a 5770 is twice as powerful and shouldn't be much more. VTX3D I think has the same parent company as Powercolor.

It's really more wattage than you need, but it'll allow for future upgrades.
 
thanks i put in that PSU that you said and i want to get the PowerColor Radeon HD5770 1GB EyeFinity5 Edition but that stretches the budget a bit over. i need to find a way to cut the price back a bit and im not sure what to do with motherboard :/

Thanks for that but my budget does'nt really allow an intel proccessor.

The CM extreme power is also a crappy unit. I picked that other one for a reason. It's high quality and will actually deliver its rated power. :good:

Apart from the HGC, look fo Antec Neo ECO or Seasonic S12II/M12II units. They're about the best quality you'll get in the price range.

Looks like a fairly solid build otherwise, though I don't know a lot about the cooler.

Ok, thanks i completely forgot about that link but it looks like a pretty good ps so ill put that in it now so all the above and the HGC power supply is now my final parts list. One more thing though is a sound card needed?
 
Your chosen mb has an 8 channel sound card. You could try that.
The Vortex Plus is a good cooler. It's a little diff tho. It pushes down through the fins and across the bottom of the cooler and surrounding area of the mb, instead of to the back of the case. CM designed it for HTCP or low clearance cases(like mine:)). If your case has clearance for one that will push straight back(more towards the rear chassis exhaust fan), then I'd go for that.

edit: After a closer look at the 430, the Hyper 212 cooler would be a better choice and probly the same price range.

Not much really. But 1600 can usually be had for the same $ or just slightly more.
The mb is 1333/1600(oc) as you know. So 1600 would be an oc. Is the amount of $ on the mb the amount left in the budget for one?

Do you need gpu that supports 5 monitors?
Perhaps a more economical, yet powerfull gpu and a better mb?

^ It technically is an overclock, yeah, but the only thing that would be pushed out of spec at 1600 would be the memory controller, but it'll easily handle 1600. I think the only reason they're all spec'd at 1333 is because there wasn't a JEDEC standard for anything higher when they were designed.

You're right, it is technically an overclock, but I think that word scares a lot of people. I figured I'd clarify it for TS :good:
 
Ok, thanks because going with 1600MHz adds about an extra $40 onto the cost and im $50 over so ill probably get the 1333MHz, thanks for your help guys.
