So I'm building a computer for a friend. He is a pretty big gamer and wants to use this for Rift, SWTOR and other newer games.

He has about an 800$ budget, though he'd much rather spend 700 so he can buy a new monitor as well.

The issues:
This is around 850$ so trying to shave off some. See anything I can get a comparable piece for a better price for?

Can someone make a quick compatibility check, I'm always concious of this even though I'm constantly looking back on it.

To SLI or not to SLI, that is the question :)

650W seems to be right in the middle. Could do with less for single 465, need more for SLI.
The mb can run 2 gpu's @ x8/x8, so more powersupply to keep from needing to upgrade it later?
Or less now because no SLI planned and use the $ saved for bigger gpu?
And if no SLI, maybe a comperable mb with 1 x16 slot to save a bit there?
Or, lol, keep mb and get 550W and a bigger gpu?

I'd get bigger, or smaller PS.
Could save a bit on 4GB memory.

Edit: Not too good a case. It'll be like a bird's nest in there. Check in the 40-60$ range for much better. Blitz, Challenger, Cooler Master 912

Could get this for about $845 shipped if you wait to order an item, for 4 days till the cpu promo is usable.
Then there's a $30 rebate making it $815 when it's done.

I have a couple :)

I believe the SE model 460 is reguarded as the slow edition, but may be ok for what you want.

1600 memory is the sweet spot pricewise. It will run at the default 1333 unless you make an adjustment. This has a little better timings too.

I already have an optical drive, so we're good there.

I've switched to 1600 RAM.

Just finished the build, booted up no problems.

Hard drive placement and getting the optical drive was a bit interesting in the rosewill case, but no big issues. My build is exactly my last detailed post except for I went with 1600 RAM (same brand) and with the SSC version of the GTX 460.

Running like a champ right now with Windows 7.

Total cost: $663 shipped, with 50$ in MIR to be turned in = 613$

My friend will be pleased :) Thanks again guys!
