Hmm

G standard - 54Mbit, B standard 11Mbit and the other one...dunno :) However, a B device cannot connect to G device. However, a G device is usually backward compatible with the B standard.

No no no! An 802.11b device CAN connect to a G, but it's just not compatable with the 54Mbit speed. Trust me...dad has an 802.11b card in his laptop and an 802.11g router and it all works perfectly.

really? My B adapter doesn't pick up G...wierd. Maybe the rotuer at his work is one of those hybrid B/G's
 
They all are suppose to be like that. I do beleive there are settings so they won't... I know my laptop, for example, has the option to only use G... But look at the specs. Most say they are compatable with all speeds. Either way, even if you are "connected" at G standards, you could still be running at much lower speeds depending on your connection quality. I mean I've had weak B connections where I got 1Mbit connections!
 
so its basicly liek ram cards ie. if u put in a 128 stick of pc400 or w/e amd a 128 stick of pc500 (plz dont correct me on the numbers im just doing an example) the ram will only go as fast as the slowest ram card?
 
...and then A and B/G are like comparing standard SD-RAM(PC133 and such) to the DDR standard (PC3200 and such) Different pinouts
 
Yeah, i went to radio shack yesterday and they said that B and C router/ adapters can communicate with each other. I bought a D-Link adapter, using a USB port(NICE). So I was psyched when I got home and tried to install it for about a half hour, and it didn't work! ;( So after being on the phone with freakin tech support for like an hour, they told me it was broken!
