Hi all,
i have a Pentium III and an intel board, and i want to up grade to an 80G hard drive. The Hard drive i want to purchase i want it to be compatible with my hardware now and in future if i decide to get an Asus 8N etc board w/ 939 socket and an Athlon 64 Processor.

So in terms of IDE and ATA/ATAPI SCSI rpm(s) what should i consider when i want to make such a move? And if you can give me a cost estimate for this purchase. Oh and i plane to use my old harddrive as a slave/master haven't decided yet. thanks alot in advanced

as long as it connects with an ATA IDE cable it will be compatible. a bit of advice, your gonna want to leave ur already using hd on the master setting for boot up purposes and to get information for your comp.

you'll probably be better off with an external hard drive if the one you already have is already ATA IDE. its basically plug n play via usb or firewire.
