$850 Gaming Computer Build

Well, the i7's are Quad cores. lol

Right now the cheapest i7 is the 920 and it's falling from $300.00,
so if you waited a bit it may be in range with the rest of the Core 2's
in a couple months. Hard to say.

Well, the only thing i dont like about the i7's is how much more it costs for DDR3 and for the X58 motherboard. I would personally go for something similar to this:

ODD(Lite-on DVD Burner with Lightscribe SATA):

Agreed. I almost bought that same board and cpu before I decided to
get i7 and X58.

In the end however it only saved a few hundred dollars by going
DDR2 and Core 2, so I decided to go for it. =D

I like that build; it is rather similar to mine but is there not a significant impact of having the DDR3 and the motherboard I picked? (I think both are better)

Lets put it this way... i have ddr3 in my rig right now, 1333mhz OCZ, the latency is horrible. Bandwidth is somewhat improved, but in benches i score a little bit lower than ddr2 1066mhz in some areas. Plus, i would go for the 750i motherboard over say.. a P45 motherboard for the simple fact that if you want to go sli later on, your psu would be capable enough and all you would need is another 55nm GTX 260 Core 216.
