I just installed my XFX 8600 GT myself. Now the problem is I get electric shock from my case and even from my headphone's steel parts. Is this normal or have done any mistake while installing it?

Another problem is my CPU fan tries to run but stops while turning on my PC.Is this happening because of low power supply or what?

Did you plug the PCIe connector into the card? make sure the mobo isn't touching the case. Whats the specs on your PSU?

Well guys just now I remembered that I didn't grounded my hand by touching any metal parts I just installed my gfx card with my bare hand.So is this the cause that I am getting the shock from my PC.

No the 8600gt does not have a power connector, plus even if it did that would not make it shock you! Just swaping a card cant not make your computer shock you! Something else has to be going on. I would open it up and recheck all your cables and wires.

The only thing I can think of is static electricity buildup. Is your computer on carpet, or a towel, or something?

Doesn't matter where the computer is, matters where you have been. Don't you remember running along a carpet when you we're little and then touching someone?

I didn't understood what you wanted to say.Can you explain me in simple way?

Static electricity builds up in your body. When you come into contact with something even slightly conductive there will be a shock.

You said you had carpets in your place? That helps to build up static electricity in your body.

Here comes the important part. ESD (electrostatic discharge, same as static electricity) can kill a computer. If you have to tinker with the inside of your computer make sure to take all the precautions, dampen the room with ona those mist spray bottles, ground yourself on the PSU, pull out the plug, and everything else. Static electricity seems to like you....

i heard touching a non-painted metal surface every once in a while will discharge all the electrical build-up inside of you. try it. :)

this is the funniest thing I have ever encountered in this forum. I am sorry but it is really funny. I have no idea what is wrong even with my A from physics 141/142 classes.

Hey, i'm no genius with Static electricity. I was just using my (admittedly inferior) knowledge of the known universe to infer what the problem could be. :\
