I'm all set for my new comp. except I still cant decide rather I should use 8800 or 2900. I heard that 2900 out performed 8800gts in some review but other said its not that much better. Any advice?

The HD2900XT performs in between the 8800GTS and 8800GTX. And as newer drivers are released, the HD2900XT will perform a better.

I would go with the HD2900XT if you can afford it.

I would go for the 8800GTS 640mb since the HD2900XT is a freaking power hungry and waiting till there are drivers for it is like just having it "sitting" on it's box doing nothing

I'm in general inclined toward ATi, but as they haven't been doing that great recently, I at first, was going to say the 8800GTS 640MB. However, OMEGA makes a great point about the HD2900XT having more potential as the drivers are optimized.

The Series 8 card has had alot of teething trouble with some games. Both cards are a good match for any game both cards will give high fps in any game and both cards will gain improved performance and better stability with newer drivers.

The ATI card is a defo competitor to the series 8 and I bet Nvidia were hoping to finish off the brand looks like it will be many years before Nvidia can floor is rival. The ATi has over 300 shader processors and 700 million transistors no wonder it requires more wattage than the nvidia cards.

I'm a Nvidia fan boy and thats my un biased info.

I saw benchmarks comparing the current drivers to the alpha drivers that should be released soon, and that showed to get rid of the artifacts in DX10 games, and improve game FPS dramatically.

no doubt at all HD2900XT and trust omega he has one and he's had a 8800GTS 320mb
I've actually had the 8800GTS 640MB and currently have the HD2900XT.

Right now the 8800GTS 320MB is probably the best card for the money, but if you can afford it, the HD2900XT would be the best choice besides the GTX.

I would say 8800GTS 320MB because it has the best price/performance ratio

All video cards above 8800GTS 320MB are waste of money because they will be outdated very soon when nvidia G92 comes out late this year

"Late this year", thats a LONG time in the computer world. By then everyone will have the new quad-cores with the nVidia 790i motherboards and 8GB of RAM.
