8800 gts sli

Well it will make a difference, but a single 8800GTS can play any game out now pretty much maxed out at a high res.

yeah im gonna get 1 when i build my computer then another 1 in cristmas im still deciding if 640 mb will make a huge differnce for the price compared to the 320mb

I think the 320MB is actually much better for the money. Right now they perform pretty much exactly the same when clocked the same.

pci-express is fast enough to swap video memory on the fly as it is

and isn't that memory like 1600mhz to boot?

I would say it shouldn't be a problem.

Im not sure what you mean, are you saying its easy to swap video cards, or that you can add/remove video memory if you want?

i mean the bus is fast enough to keep the memory full just as fast as the gpu can eat it, there's really no need for more than 300 megs of buffer

it's not like the pci/early agp days where an entire level's worth of textures would need to be preloaded into vram

Oh ok, I think I understand you now :P

And having more then 320MB of VRAM right now is pretty much useless, and im going to take a guess and say that it should be enough for quite some time, but eventually you are going to want more.

hey im installing it right now...and there are two power 3-pin thingys....should i use both of em? it doesnt really say in the installation guide...im only going to b using one graphics card and one monitor for the moment...suggestions?

one advantage to using to 8800 gts's is that with 2 dvi ports on each your could hook up to four monitors up and run smooth as butter.

you wount seea difference in games after 60fps it gets rather pointless even on benchmarks the difference will be small

i am not too sure about the graphics quality, but i do know that after you get the RAM that is compatible with SLI, you can hook up to four monitors with the DVI interfaces and is will run very smooth.

ok. we all are saying different stuff. i thought you can use four. omega says two. heyman says one. which is it? how would you link multiple monitors then? im sorry if i provided the wrong info, but i did some research and i though you could use four.
