8800 GTX - legend of a card, or just old school?

I have recently decided that I am going to rid myself of a custom built computer, since it is constantly crashing (built by someone else). However it has a fancy (or is it still fancy?) 8800 GTX 768mb video card inside. The only thing is, since it's in a computer that doesn't like to work, I don't feel good about selling it or giving it away for someone to use without testing it first. So, is this a card worth testing, or should I just return the rig, video card and all, to the previous owner?
I know it was a really good card in its time, but is it still in any kind of high demand any more? This is what I am wondering.
Thanks for your help.

The 8800 was replaced by the 9800 and GTS 250. They go for 100-135 right now, I would not pay much for a used older card but some might? Check e-bay ended sales for your card to see what you might get.

If i had the money, I'd buy an 8800GTX and frame it :D

just for the hell of it. but yeah, get a newer card. wait for fermi cards to be released, they should drop prices some on older stuff.

i use the 8800 gt right now. it's kinda the only thing i hadn't upgraded when i built my computer last month. it still treats me good. i haven't gotten into benchmarking or anything (yet) but whatever my framerate is in games it looks just fine without stuttering.

but yeah, imma wait til fermi to come out and i'll either buy it or gtx 285/295 or ati 4xxx/5xxx series when they drop in price

IMO the 8800 GTX is still pretty awesome. It's actually worth only a bit less than the Geforce 9800 GTX and the Geforce GTS 250, and it still delivers good performance. I would still consider it a decent gaming card, and DEFINITELY wouldn't consider it old-school. :)

If it works fine, it's worth anywhere from $60-80.

It will still play pretty much any game, but uses a lot of juice to do it and it creates a lot of heat!
