8800 GTX + Windows XP = Bad?

Im pretty set on buying an 8800 GTX for my new (and first) gaming build. I was planning on running the computer on windows XP because I have heard and read that Windows Vista is still pretty buggy/unstable right now.

However, I've been reading around and have come across many people who have said that the 8800GTX and Nvidias drivers for the card aren't too compatible with XP; People getting BSOD with XP but not when using Vista.

Does any body have any information or can vouch for this? I would hate to spend $1500 on a computer for it to lock up when playing games...

I don't know about the 8800gtx vs. XP thing, but i recommend you get Vista if you're going with a GTX. Slightly buggy software/drivers aside it would be a waste to upgrade to Vista in a couple months when you want to play Crysis or the like.
