Dont know if this is a repeat thread but i did do search. I dont know what 8800 to get for my next build. I think im gana use e6600 cpu and 800mhz ram on the 680i board. i get all my stuff at wholsale so budget isnt final. but i see there are a few dif models of 8800 cards. would the little one be a good choise or should i spring for the bigger ones?

and also isnt there a limit of how much information your cpu can take from the gpu. I dont want a better gpu than my cpu can handle, lol.

Any of the 8800 series will work great with the E6600. It depends on your budget really, if your looking for something fairly cheap the 8800GTS 320MB is a terrific card for the price.

hey,
iam using pretty much exactly the same specs as you mentioned before:
eVGA nForce 680i SLI, 2gb DDR2-800 PC6400, Intel E6600 C2D Conroe, 750w PSU and lucky last i just couldn't settle for second best... hence i went out and bought a XFX 8800GTX..
if i were you i wouldn't bother about buying the 8800GTS, its just not worth it. that may sound stupid but for that little bit more $$ you go and buy the best..
think about it, its up to you.
i ran 3D Mark06 and the gfx card alone got something like 8000+ points, plus the cpu which totalled in about 12000 points!!
