8800GT 256MB for $69.99 after MIR at newegg !!!

Yes of course I am joking. On a serious note though I will not buy midrange or lower cards again.I like to play the newer ,better graphics games like crysis and such and although it seems like a really good deal the life span of usefulness of those cards is very short when playing modern games.JMO.I guess if you like playing older games it is ok to squeeze a few more months out before buying. But I think it is best to buy a 9800 gtx or 4850 or newer.I bought this card (the 7600gs) and my old 850 pro without doing research at BB because they were on sale.I started off with cards that start of playing low to med graphics so they dont last too long after a new round of cards come out.Of course I guess you can just upgrade more often as soon as your card is unable to play a certain game but it would be nice for once to be able to max a game'es graphics.I have never been able to do that as I have always bought from box stores like BB and CC and they usually get the older cards 90% of the time and usually want a premium for them.Sorry for the ramble.

the lifespan of ALL computer parts is short...thats technology. you can buy top of the line, and 6 months later there is something that doubles its performance.

Tell me about it, I can barely keep up with it! I just got an 8 series card two weeks ago and now its.. *old*

See I rectify all that by never buying anything new.. by being mostly broke all the time. I don't have to worry about my new piece of techno-jigger being ob-so-lete.

Psh. You guys are chumps. :D

good price on the 8800GT,wouldnt only 256mb of vram bottlneck it though?

yeah thats how it always goes ,but i dont see why people have to have the latest and greatest when a 8800GT-GTS etc can handle most games on highest settings exept crysis atm.

Well it is only 256mb.. Well it's a good price for desktop graphics and laptop graphics, because a similar card in an alienware computer is a $500 upgrade. :P

Yup, alienware has been known to rip people off ;)

Performance wise, this thing is great on a lower resolution monitor, pretty much the same as the 512 version in most games.
