8800GT memory question

Hey guys,

at looking at my 8800GT info,i noticed that the total available memory for my GFX card is 1791Mb

does this mean that if the 512Mb ever got full up that it would use system memory?
i think thats what it means anyway?
i doubt it would fill up 512mb though eh? :D

also i still cannot find anyway whatsoever to monitor my cards temps even after reading similar posts about people not been able to read the Asus 8800gt temps even in ASUS smart doctor recomended by asus.

the card does have a sensor,Asus has just messed up bigtime on the software to read it:cool:
 
yeah i noticed that while i was using vista. it had heaps of memory. not sure why tho.
maybe it uses ram if it needs to...
 
same here, even when i still use 8600gt it display the same as above in vista.
don't know what it use for.

ahh sorry,Yeah you have a diffrent make 8800GT to mine.
ive been reading on some other forums and almost everyone who has an Asus En 8800GT cannot monitor their temps :mad:

but there is a temp sensor on board.

whats your cards temp Vipernitrox ? does the 8800 run hot?
 
not at all, the gpu is idling around 41c and under load (playing crysis for a couple of hours) it's peak is about 52c. I've got a rather nice cooling solution for it though, check my pc pics if you want to know more.
 
wow that is a good temp im impressed,I thought it was usual for gfx card to idle around 50-60 c :D

the cooler on my card is soppose to be good as Asus changed the cooler for this better one.

yea asus usually delivers nice products... but the sensor problem is really bad.
card looks quite nice tough

and about my temps... not everyone has a cooler the size of a basketball on top of his graphics card :P

Same here when running 8600GT XXX. It read a high number like that when i was running integrated also. It must just be the system memory. Heres a pic with dxdiag.
