8800gtx

How come this card totally out performs everything in somethings... then loses to the X1950XTF in CF?

I thought the 8800GTX is completely badass?

X1950XTF? or X1950XTX? and by CF you mean Computer Forum? or what?

http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html?modelx=33&model1=606&model2=519&chart=199

Under Prey... (only one I can think of off the top of my head)

CF meaning CrossFire. Sorry for the confusion.

But losing to iton the higher resolution side is what's making me wonder. I thought these cards were revolutionary and just an all around better card. I was pretty interested in getting one... but not now. I want a card that isn't gonna come close to losing to todays cards. I don't even want a comparison between my DX10 card and a DX9 X1950XTX setup

So, you're moaning about 1 8800GTX losing to 2X 1950XTX's under CERTAIN benchmarks?

They ARE an all-round better card. They're certainly revolutionary in power requirements, and they're definately a lot better than what we had.

Yea I guess you can say that... I guess I am moaning. If i'm spending $650 on a card... it better be the best card on the market by car with all it's hype and "Revolutionary" status. Just saying... guess I have to wait now.

Where? That's the 8800GTS, not the 8800GTX.

Wait a sec. Lemme see what you mean, here:
You are complaining that a single 8800GTX (~$650) is worse than X1950XTX's in crossfire ($350+$400=$750+)? Pay more, get a little more in one test, lots less in the rest.

Remember, having 2x x1950XTX's in CF is alot of GPU power. The fact that a single card can outperform them in almost everything is amazing.

well... SLI and CF have the biggest advantage on higher resolution,.. thats where its originally designed for. so honestly im not really supprised the CF setup of Ati's fastest cards atm did outperform the 8800.. ;)
Besides that... look at the price difference... 2 $400 cards in CF.. or 1 $600 card? :o

Hmmm... before AMD will actually release a grafic's card.. it'll take some time i gues. I want to see the R600 to be released, and then I'll probably get 1 (or 2 :P ) 8800GTS/GTX's since they should drop in price then ( and if the difference between the R600 on the 8800 isnt that big ofcourse :o )

8800gtx uses stream processors. they have (theoretically, like everything else) 20x the performance per watt in comparison with conventional processing, which is good because it gives it extremely high performance and still keeps power usage in check.
also, its newer thats why. it supports all the newest technologies and its designed to do those perfectly, older technologies are just a breeze for it. get dual 8800gtx so you can do 16xAA lol... not that you need it.

i thought about getting one, and then i looked at how long past nvidia cards have lasted. my friend bought a 9600xt when it was competition for the fx5700ultra right. he can still play cod2, think the fx5700 will compare?
not to mention i bought a 7900gtx and sold it because it had plenty of power but didnt support all the technology i wanted it to.
i mean, click in the 6600gt and x1300pro. THEY PERFORM THE SAME!
try clicking in x1600xt and 6800ultra... funny the x1600xt beats the 6800ultra, which was the prime competition for the x800 series...
ATI>NVIDIA lol
in fact, im disappointed with my 7800gt... the x850xt performs better in some benchmarks, which is ridiculous on NVidia's parts, maybe this stream processing is a new era for NVidia but it seems to me like they're just getting a jump on the market like they did with their dual card technology SLI and QUAD SLI too. it seems like they more for pure power rather than trying to make their cards last a long time...

personally, i think ATI is doing it the right way and testing more improving on their new architecture while they've got time before the release of directX 10 and any games that support it.

haha i think ATI is working on a gpu, and AMD is funding it. why? because ATI is the section of GPU engineers on AMD's payroll lol... i'll bet ATI will be on the GPU's box too, it has to do with recognition... if you saw a video card that said "AMD" on the box and didnt know the two companies merged, would you buy it? lol they'll probably slap "AMD" on there too though...

look at the 6800GT and the 7800GTX tough.. Ati released counterparts for them later on.. and yet the Nvidia cards really gave them hell ;)
anyway,.. im not lifting 1 company over the other.. only time will tell the results :)

i just thought it was odd how they stopped selling 6800ultras right when they started the 7 series, and how they stopped selling 7800gt's when they started selling 7900 cards.... i mean i had a 7800gt and i couldnt add one onto my SLI motherboard even if i wanted to... meaning they wanted me to buy a new card... which i did my 7900gtx... which i found out had no support for FSAA and HDR at the same time, since it had enough power for it... the 7 series cards wont last long...

nvidia probably payed tomshardware not to put x series cards on there cause they outperform some 7 series cards at a much lower price...
needless to say i want the R600 lol
im gettin a big typhoon first though :)

I strongly disagree with you

The 6600GT outperforms the X1600xt in some benchmarks, so the 6600GT should outperform the x1300 pro by far.
And since 6800ultra is far better than 6600GT then it should outperform X1600xt

BTW, I agree with you that X850xt can beat 7800GT in some benchmarks
