hey,
im getting a Gigabyte 768Mb Geforce 8800GTX with my new computer im building.. however after a bit of looking around on the net i found out there are quite a few 8800GTX graphic cards by different makes..do the different brands really mean anything? if so which is the better of them all?
(not including the 8800GTX ultra)

Any card thats an 8800GTX is exactly the same, and made by nVidia. The only difference is that each manufacturer can use a different cooling solution, or overclock the cards a bit by stock.

I'm not a fan of pre-overclocked cards, so I would go with the cheapest one, as long as it appeals to you.
 
Theres more of a difference than that. Different manufactuers will use different brand transistors and memory chips, thats why some card will overclock better than others and some brands are known to be downright cheap.

i just had a look at those two and their both more expenssive.. especially the EVGA one! its like just over $1500 aus where as the one im currently looking at is $950.. damn i wish i knew more about computers haha this is a pic of the one im getting. unless u think maybe i should go one better??

Acturally why not get dual 2900xt and get p5k to get it crossfire? In performance its just a little behind gtx. and in price its alot more better then gtx. with newer driver it will probably match that of the gtx.

haha too complicated for me :P im really new to the whole make ur own pc thing haha

i just want to make sure that i dont go out and buy all this stuff then find out in a few months time it isnt going to be good enough or somthing. i really want to get it right but im getting sooo confused :P
i really just want to be able to play the new and upcomming games on high settings without any probs
 
Gigabyte make extremely good Motherboards and cases, I'm going to assume they put as much effort into their Video cards.
