8gb 667mhz vs 4gb 800mhz

I know I can answer one question... That in a benchmark test the 4 GB at 800 MHz will score higher but which would I gain more use out of. My computer usually uses 25 to 50 percent of the available memory. depending on what I'm doing. windows 8 likes keeping a bunch of background processes even though I try to manage them(doesn't make much of a difference). any opinions would be greatly appreciated. By the way my computer will only support 1GB cards at 800mhz or 2GB cards at 667mhz

More memory is always better. The speed difference between the two is negligible compared to the benefit of double the ram.

Assuming you are running 64bit windows that is. If you are running 32bit don't bother, it cannot address more than 4gb anyway.

Having more RAM is never a bad thing, but as stated, if you have a 32-bit OS, 8GB is useless to you. 8GB of DDR2 is also going to be very expensive.
