I doubt it. The 8600 GT didn't even have to use the 6 pin PCI-E power.I was really showing how you can save yourself some money and get a better card...
I agree on what you said though, I think it should be like this;
The 9800GX2 = Two 8800GTS 512's Underclocked - So, it should be called 8800GX2
The 9800GTX = An overclocked 8800GTS 512 (I have mine OC'ed higher too...) = So, it should be the 8850GTX (Because there is already an 8800GTX)
