The computer I am looking at buying is going to be a high end gaming computer, and will hopefully stay ahead of the curve when it comes to future games.

I configured it on IBuyPower.com and the total cost was 930$. Any general advice or criticisms on the computer would be appreciated. Also, I would like to know if the 600w power source and extra cooling system are needed. I only threw them in because of the processor and video cards. Thanks in advance.

Try AVAdirect.com
They seems to be a better company.
By the way, get intel set-up at the moment.
Get AMD Phenom only if you are sure they are B3 stepping, and don't waste money on 8600GT SLi, not worth.

Anyone else have any input on the build? I have a friend who got his computer from ibuypower and his works great, so that's why I'm using that site.

Don't get phenom 9500 because Q6600 is by faster much faster

Even Intel dual core beats phenom in most cases

Looks like the dual cores beat the Q6600 in most of the games as well. If this machine is meant for gaming I wouldn't recommend either quad core processor. Might as well stick with a dual core, as they seem to perform better in games. If price is a factor here the 9500 definately is good for the money.

The Dual Cores beat the Q6600 because the game/software is coded to support a maximum of 2 cores. 2.4GHz vs 3GHz... Hmm...

When Quad utilization becomes popular, the Q6600 will get more attention and buys.

DON'T get 8600GT's. They are not good gaming cards even SLI'd. Get at least an 9600GT or something like that.

You'll be better off buying one high-end card than wasting your money on several crapper ones in SLI. And like heaps of people here, even I've heard of 8600s crappy performance. do-not-get-it!

The dual core not only outperformed Phenom in games, but it outperformed it even in some applications that utilize 4 cores

Just check the photoshop and DivX encoding. Both application utilize 4 cores, yet Intel dual core was slightly better than most of the phenom processors

Take it easy man!! The 8600 is not crappy man!! I have one and its great!! I love it and esp the price. I can play rainbow six vegas no prob along with NFS: Pro street, TD: U, GTR2, LFS, Dirt, and GTL all on max settings and get great performance. Look at my signature for details and I get 5,199 in 3Dmark06 which isnt bad for only spending $750 total on my whole pc.

If yall just recently purchased the 8600GT, then consider the 8800GS. Beats the 8600 and the HD3850, at a price with the 8600's.
