9600GT Issue

I got my 9600GT and new PSU and I'm having a big problem... first, here's what I've got:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130424 (actually the card looks different, but it's technically the same thing.)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139008&Tpk=400W Corsair

Now, the problem... I installed the PSU, popped the card in, plugged in the 6-pin power plug (there is no 8-pin plug), plugged in the DVI to VGA adaptor, plugged in my monitor, and then powered it on. When it turned on the GPU was really noisy and absolutely NOTHING displayed on the monitor. I tried both DVI ports and neither one worked. I can't even use the integrated video (yes, I have integrated ATI 3100 video) unless I take the 9600GT out. So, any help? Thanks guys! :)

Pop in your motherboard disc and make sure the driver for the pcie slot is installed. Usually you don't need to install a driver for it but on some motherboards you need to.

Did you uninstall the onboard video driver before installing the 9600GT?

I didn't uninstall the driver, but I went into the BIOS and gave the PCI x16 card priority over the integrated card. Can a Windows driver really make it so that nothing ever shows up on my display (not even the screen before the BIOS) when I'm plugged into the 9600GT?

When i got my 8500 GT I didn't even have to make the PCIe slot priority over integrated it just started up and I installed drivers when I logged in.

Not sure, but you're gonna have to uninstall those drivers somehow.

Setting priority on the PCI-E is not really needed.

o dude, uninstall those drivers and test it out, that should be the first thing in installing a new gfx card...

I've reseated the card many times, but it looks like it's dead, just plain dead. I haven't tested the card in another rig, but I was able to run my brother's 9400GT in my rig just fine right after popping it in... no problems. Looks like my card is going back to Newegg. :(

If your brothers 9400GT ran in there than i would RMA that 9600GT.

When you power up your rig, does the 9600GTs fan start?

Im pretty sure your not supposed to uninstall the onboard video drivers, only if you are using a video card already.

Were you using or onboard before you got the 9600?
If not (you had a different card) then make sure uninstall the previous drivers, I would even go as far as using a Driver Cleaner program.

Yeah, the fan starts and it's REALLY noisy.

Which is easier, going to EVGA or Newegg? I bought it on the 11th of March so I still have my 30 day Newegg warranty.
