9600xt or 6600gt

I recently ordered a sapphire ati 9600xt video card from newegg. After I installed it and started playing Battlefield 2, Half-Life 2, and Call of Duty the screen would become pink and pixelated. Catalyst control center read the card's temp at 42C, pretty normal. I've tried different monitors so it has to be the card. I ordered a PCI slot fan and will now see if that helps cool it down. My AMD 2600+ is running in the mid 60's and I'm wondering if that could cause the prob. Does anyone know how I might go about correcting this problem, and if not, would it be a good idea to RMA the card and get a 6600GT instead?

i would say that the card isn't to blame, however i would say the CPU temps are a little on the high side. make sure your heatsink is clear of dust and see if that helps, if not try reseating the heatsink.

i have heard from a friend that people with ATI cards are having problems with BF2; im not sure if its the entire range of cards but im only going by what my friend has read on the net trying to solve the problems with his ATI radeon 9200 and BF2

You have the most recent Catalyst, right?

I have both..... but I like the 6600gt over the 9600xt but it all depends on your budget and your taste in cards either ati or nvidia

well.. BF2 ns much better on Nvidia cards :) i even can play it on my fx5200 in a 4x AGP port (texures on medium and the rest on low with the res 1280 x 980) an it runns fine ;)
